Here we are going head long into fall and leaving behind a great summer and a very busy summer it was.
There were over 760 children and adults who came to spend time at the retreat. Our summer started the first week of June and ran until the third week of September. There were over 26 who committed theirs lives to the Lord in salvation. We had the driest summer in history. It was the driest one I have ever seen in my 24 years. Praise the Lord we had no fires close to us but did have to deal with the smoke from fires to the west.
We had some tense moments with equipment failures this summer. One failure was the lack of water. At first it appeared the dry conditions was putting an unusually large demand on the water system. The well out put was not the problem it was a break in an old water pipe leading to the supply tanks. After three days of digging by hand (because it was inaccessible by mechanized equipment) we found the leak.
The next failure was the John Deere diesel generator. In May we had the fuel tanks filled (400 gallons) with what we thought was fresh clean diesel. By the end of July, it was apparent there was something wrong with the generator. I asked a John Deere diesel mechanic to look at it. He told us the diesel fuel was contaminated with gasoline. Because of that it destroyed the injectors and the injector pump. Praise the Lord He sent the right people and the right parts and kept the lights on until it got fixed and running again.
Through all this we were always remined that God is in control and we simply had to trust Him and allow Him to supply what was needed to make everything run smoothly again.
We are still looking for funds to come in to replace the vinyl covered dorms. It is only by the grace of God they are still standing. The vinyl is getting very fragile. Please have a look at the link to view a short video. https://www.facebook.com/MountaintopRetreatCO/videos/1099775663513450/
